Step Out Into the Deep

March 23, 2018

“Stepping Out” requires you to move forward; take a step forward.  Imagine you are standing in one position, in order for you to move, you’ve got to pick up one leg and step out from your standing position you are in and place your foot in front. Once you move one foot forward, the other foot will follow; and before you know it, you are walking – constantly taking steps forward.  But this forward movement was the result of first “stepping out”.

Similar to stepping out with your feet and moving forward via walking,  You also must step out of your past and move into our future.  Stepping out of your past means not allowing PAST decisions and PAST mistakes to dictate and determine how you will live in the future.  For example, just because you smoked pot in high school and made poor grades as a result, doesn’t mean you have to keep smoking pot today.  You must make a decision to stop smoking pot so it doesn’t continue to destroy your brain cells, and hinder your cognitive processes.

Another example is just because you had pre-marital sex, doesn’t mean you have to keep having it. If you continue to have premarital sex, there is a high probability that you will contract a STD and AIDS.  Therefore, you must analyze and reach the conclusion that it is not worth getting a STD or AIDS, and make a Decision to stop having premarital sex.

The First Step in Stepping Out into the deep is to Decide to stop engaging in negative behavior.  This requires a renewing of the mind, which is a constant process.

“I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”  (Romans 12:1-2)

Determination

Determination means to make a firm decision to do something.

DETERMINATION requires stability of the mind, emotions, and spirit.  Once you make a decision to follow Jesus Christ, you will not allow anyone or anything to cause you to turn back and follow the worldly standards of living.  You will follow Christ, regardless of the cost.

“No man having put his hand to the plow, and looks back to the things behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.”  (Luke 9:2)

God desires for ALL of His children to move forward.  When you plough land, you are constantly taking steps forward; you are focused on forward movement (pressing forward to the next step); never looking back.

One step forward automatically leads to the next step if you are determined to go the next step. As you go from one step to the next step, you will constantly grow in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom of the Word of God.

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”  (Colossians 1:9-14)

Discipline

Discipline means self-control.

“Be still and rest in the Lord:  wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.”  (Psalm 37:7)

God will deal with the evil one who seeks to distract, steal, kill, and destroy you.  He will execute judgment and righteousness on your behalf.  He will see to it that the evil one gets what he deserves – God said vengeance is mine saith the Lord.

It is essential to exercise self-control in our lives to maintain holiness (sanctification).  We can’t be guided by our emotions and natural minds.  We can’t get up and pray /study when we feel like it, or go to church when we feel like it.  We must die (not give in) to our human feelings and desires and accept and embrace God’s ways and desires, which are found in His Word.

We must dedicate our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God.  This sacrifice is ongoing throughout our lives.  We must follow God’s will and ways for our lives, rather than our own will and ways.  God and His Word must guide us.  Our submission and obedience to His Word will bring about positive change in our lives – spiritually, mentally, and physically.  God’s Word is our source for change; our tool to effect change in others; and our guide for empowerment and prosperity.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world (customs and attitudes), but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”   (Romans 12:1-2)

“Do not let yourself be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”  (Romans 12:21)

Your thoughts dictate your actions and your attitudes.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”  (Proverbs 23:7)

It is important to align your thoughts with God’s thoughts – found in His Word.  When you speak positively, passionately and in the present tense, then this activates the forces of my human spirit to lay hold of the spirit and power of God.

“The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor.”  (Proverbs 12:24)

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:  And all these blessings shall come to thee and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.”  (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)

 Diligence

Diligence means consistent.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing and being continually aware that your labour in the Lord is not futile.”  (I Corinthians 15:58)

“But without faith it is impossible to please him:  for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  (Hebrews 11:6)

It is important to be consistent in prayer, reading, studying, and meditating on the Word of God on a regular basis – developing the PRSM Method.  When you develop the PRSM Method, you will undoubtedly grow in knowledge and understanding of the Word of God, and develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.  Your rewards will be immeasurable.

“Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.”  (Psalm 119:4)

Leave Your Past Behind.  It is essential that you leave your past so you can move forward in your life and discover and fulfill your God-given destiny.

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13)

“For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for prosperity and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.”  (Jeremiah 29:11)

Don’t be hesitant about leaving your past; staying in your present condition of comfort.

You Must Step Out, So You Can Step UpThen God can elevate you.  Notice the word “elevate is present tense.  Therefore, God will continue to elevate you throughout your life, but you must submit to God’s will and way, instead of your own will and way of doing.  Don’t hold on to your plan, but accept and adopt God’s Plan for your life.

“Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.”  (Psalm 143:10)

How many of you know that God’s plan for your life is the Best Plan for your life?  “You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:20)  “

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.”

In order for you to accept and adopt God’s plan for your life, there must be a shifting.

  1. A shift from a spirit of pride into a spirit of humility.

  1. A shift from a “lack mentality in to an Abundant mentality.  “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” (John 10:10) (3 John 1:2)
  1. A shift from a negative attitude into a positive mindset about yourself.   You are not flawless, but your can change your attitude by accepting and believing how God views you – as fearfully and wonderfully made; beautiful; God’s delight.
  1. A shift from a victim mentality into a victor mentality. “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].”  (Philippians 4:13)   “Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.”  (Isaiah 41:10)  “I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)  “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)
  1. A shift from toxic relationships to righteous associations.  People are like elevators; they take you up; take you down, or get you stuck.  Your associations can: (1) shipwreck your faith; (2) take you off your God-given course, and lead you on a path of destruction.

I challenge you to Step Out into the Deep, Starting Today!!!

The Agape Road

December 1, 2017

The Agape Road is the road that leads to eternal life.

There are trials and tribulations that strengthen you with might.

Love God and never depart along the way,

And you won’t go astray.

Stay close to MY WORD throughout the day,

And blessings and protection can only come your way.

Though your journey seems long.

You’ll reach the end very strong.

Love ME with all of your heart,

and from MY WORD you will never part.

Digesting the Word of God

July 7, 2017

In the natural you use 3 senses relating to digesting food. 1st you see the food; 2nd you smell the food; and 3rd you taste the food and chew it so you can be digested by the digestive organs.  It is then transformed so it can be used to nurture your physical body.

Similar to digesting food, we must Digest the Word of God.  There are 3 processes in digesting the Word of God.  1st you READ the Word; 2nd you Study the Word of God; 3rd you Meditate on the Word of God.  I call it the RSM Method = R-Reading +  S-Studying +  M-Meditating When you engage in this process, you begin to digest the Word so that it nurtures your spirit.  The Word takes root in your heart and renews your mind.

As you meditate on the Word of God, you will be like a tree, constantly nurtured in the right amount and the right time.  Therefore, you will constantly yield a harvest and  prosper.

Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of thine mouth; but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it.  For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”

If you mediate on the Word of God day and night and apply the Word of God, then you shall have (present tense = NOW (always NOW) Good Success & PROSPERITY.  Prosperity does not only mean riches, but Increase; Abundance; Overflow.

“The uncompromisingly righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.  Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.”  (Psalm 92:12-13)

The Hebrew word for flourish is “parach”, which means to spread; abroad; abundantly; blossom; break forth; bud; grow; spring; make fly.  I wrote a poem, which I believe really brings enlightenment regarding flourishing.

SET MY SAIL TO THE WIND

The wind blows from the North, South, East and West.

Sometimes it is gentle;

Other times it is brisk and fierce.

But there is one wind that is steady and constant – the wind of the Spirit.

It leads and guides you unto all truth – the Word of God.

The Word of God is the truth, the way, and the life.

You will constantly move forward, and not backward.

You will constantly flow in the purposes of God.

But you must affix your heart and mind on His Word, not on your feelings and emotions.

Allow the Word of God to lead you along the path of righteousness;

And you will never go wrong.

You will set your feet on solid ground,

Instead of going around and around.

Locking Patterns

July 22, 2013

God has given us a will that makes choices.  Choices to:

Accept Jesus Christ                                         Reject Jesus Christ

–  Believe the Word of God                                  –  Reject the Word of God

–  Trust in God                                 or                  –  Doubt the Word of God

–  Accept Truth                                                       –  Reject Truth

–  Apply Truth in Your Life

For every choice you make there is a consequence.  Those who choose to do all those things in the left column will live abundant lives; walk in wisdom; and experience eternal life in heaven.

Those who choose to do the things in the right column will live lives of defeat; walk in foolishness, and experience eternal death in hell.

The key is the “Choices you make have a direct effect on the life you live, and Lock you into a pattern of Success or Failure.”

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.  God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.  Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Psalm 53:1)

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”  (Proverbs 16:9)

Be sure to make right choices because they will set you on the straight and narrow path that leads to righteousness (right Standing) with God.  Then you are guaranteed to live a fulfilled life full of love, joy, and peace.

“Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!” (Matthew 5:6)

Light Grow Dim

June 17, 2013

Every Child of God has the light (truth) of Christ in them. But it is very important to keep the light of Christ shining in your life by reading, studying, and meditating on the Word of God, and applying it in your life.

Don’t let the “Light of Christ” grow dim in your life, by allowing the devil to get you to slow down in using the R-S-M method; slow down in going to church; slow down in praising and worshipping Jesus Christ; praying to God.  Once you slow down it can continue and lead to you stopping all of these things.  Bind all hindrances to you keeping the light of Christ burning bright in your life.   Pursue God to Know Him and Develop Intimacy with God.  Pursue God with all of your heart and God will make known His ways and will reward you.

Jesus, the Fountain of Living Waters

June 3, 2013

Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life.  He is the source of truth; the example for the way to live; and the reflection of an abundant blessed life.

Many people are thirsty. Thirsty for love, joy, peace and fulfillment.  However, their thirst can only be quenched by Jesus – the Thirst Quencher.

“Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.”  (John 7:37-38)

You must first believe and continue to believe, trust, and depend on Jesus to supply you with whatever you need to quench your thirst.  Remember the Word of God says, “And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 4:19)

Don’t put your trust in man or woman because they will let you down.  Put all of your trust in Jesus, who will never disappoint you. He is always there when you need Him.  He will never leave you or forsake you.  He is always there when you need someone to talk to and lead you on the path of righteousness.

JESUS IS THE ROCK

You are the Rock on which I stand.

You will lead me all the way to the promise land.

I can trust you without a doubt.

You bring blessings all about.

In the morning and throughout the day.

In your Word I will trust and obey.

LOOK UP

Look up from whence you have come.  God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think.  You need only come.

Come and humble yourself at the throne of grace, and you will invoke the presence, love, and mercy of God.  He is longing for you to spend some time with Him because he desires to be close and intimate with you – His child.

You must make the time to talk and listen to God; not just keep on running your regular busy schedule without regard to your Master’s pleasure.

For in spending time with God, you will experience love, joy, peace and great intimacy (closeness) beyond measure.

You will receive instructions and know what to do and who to talk to.

Remember to come boldly to the throne of grace,

and on mountain tops and higher levels you will be placed.

Don’t be discouraged on your Christian walk,

You have a Father, Friend, Encourager, and Comforter with whom to talk.

Don’t be anxious or shy,

But allow God to shape and mold you into a beautiful butterfly.
