Canopy Of Love

CANOPY OF LOVE

L = Loyal

O = Obedient to the Word

V = Victorious in every situation

E = Exceeding greatness (blessings)

Love (God = Jesus = Word) is the key to success (fulfilling your God-given purpose).

When you abide in love (God = Jesus = Word) then you avail yourself to divine protection spiritual understanding, wisdom, grace and faith.  Your life explodes with blessings and you receive the desires of your heart.

“You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.  Selah.  For you send blessings of good things to meet him. You set a crown of pure gold on his head.  (Psalm 21:2-3)

“For the king trusts, relies on, and is confident in the Lord, and through the mercy and steadfast love of the most high he will never be moved.”  (Psalm 21:6)

The king received all of the desires of His heart and blessings because he trusted in, relied on, and was assured in the Lord.  He knew without doubt that the promises of God were true and they would be fulfilled.  He knew this because the Word says so, and through his experience – he got the desires of His heart, and received good blessings.

Now in order for this to happen, what kind of relationship must be the king have had – a close relationship with Jesus Christ founded on love and faith.  The closeness is reflected in the degree of trust the king had for the Lord.

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but acknowledge him in all of your ways, and he will direct your paths.  (Proverbs 3:5-7)

“The just shall live by faith.”  (Habbakuk 2:4)  It is impossible to please God without faith.”

The king had constant faith, and was never moved from this faith – never allowed doubt to come in.  Sometimes we allow doubt to come in by what other people say and what they think of us.  But the most important thing is what does God think of me? Are my thoughts and actions pleasing Him.

The whole duty of man is to love God and keep His commandments.
(Ecclesiastes 12:13)

You can’t love God and keep His commandments by pleasing other people because their thoughts and ways do not agree with the Word of God.  They are not the same as God’s thoughts and ways.

You discover God’s thoughts and ways by reading, studying and meditating on the Word of God.

The Branch

May 5, 2017

I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser.  Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit (stops bearing) He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.

You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word, which I have given you.  Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you.  [Live in Me, and I will live in you.]  Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.  I am the Vine; you are branches.  Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit.  However, apart from Me you can do nothing. (John 15:1-5)

The branch that is not connected to its source of nourishment withers and dies.  It is essential for the branch to remain connected to the source.  That source is God – Jesus – The Word.

“If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:6)

We must remain (abide) connected to The Word (Jesus Christ) in order to continue growing spiritually and prospering.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (III John 2)

God wants us to prosper and be in health, even as our soul (mind and emotions) prosper.  The soul can’t prosper unless it is transformed.  Transformed by The Word.

“Do not be conformed to this world (fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs), but be transformed (changed) by the entire renewal of your mind (by its new ideals and its new attitude), so that you may prove (for yourselves) what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of god, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect (in His sight for you).” (Romans 12:2)

Our mind must be continually transformed by Living Waters.  We can’t physically live without water, and we can’t spiritually live without The Word.

“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.  Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” (Proverbs 4:20-22)

There are many people walking around who are physically alive, but spiritually dead because there is no Word in them No Jesus in them.  Jesus is the source of spiritual life.  We may eat, drink and be merry (engage in worldly pleasures) and think we are living the life. That is, to party, drink alcoholic beverages, do drugs, have premarital sex, play sports till the sun goes down, and not have Jesus in our life (heart and mind); not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ the Messiah – The Anointed One.

But we aren’t “living the life” because we don’t have Jesus (the source of life) inside of our heart and mind.  So we are really living DEATH.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life (his blessed life in the kingdom of God)?  Or what would a man give as an exchange for his (blessed) life (in the kingdom of God)? (Matthew 16:26)

The most important relationship in our life is the one we have with Jesus.   Not our relationship with our mother, father, or brother.

” . . . truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” (I John 3)

“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me:  and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.   And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:37-38)

STAY CONNECTED

Stay connected to Jesus Christ even when the winds fall and the valleys run deep.

When it seems like all you need is sleep.

When it seems there is no way out.

Trust in Jesus, He is the truth and the way without a doubt.

He will shape and mold you all the way through.

Just don’t give up when you are feeling blue.

The trials and tribulations we experience are designed to strengthen our faith and trust in Jesus (the Holy One).

I challenge you to be a Branch that Remains Connected to the Vine – Jesus Christ.

Faith

March 3, 2017

Faith is believing and trusting in God;  more and more as each day passes along.

It is important to build your faith through reading, studying, and meditating on the Word so you can be strong.

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

As you stand firm on the Word, you expand your vision and your sight.

Your faith is limitless, let it blow

Then you can truly soar and grow.

Free of baggage and oppressions that burden you down,

You can rise to heights unimaginable if you stand on the Word, walk in joy, and don’t frown.

Remember it is God that promotes you,

So be strong and know that He is faithful and true.

Life’s Slippery Slopes

October 5, 2015

Life can cause you to slide down slippery slopes, but you can avoid them by putting your faith (belief, trust, and reliance) on God.

                                        TRUST IN ME

Trust in me with all of your heart.

Trust in me and you will never fall apart.

Acknowledge me in all of your ways,

And you will have sweet peace all of your days.

I am the truth and the way.

Stand and obey my Word and you won’t stray.

Trust in me with all of your mind,

And spiritual treasures of wisdom and revelation you will find.

MOVING ONWARD TOWARD COMPLETION

July 27, 2014

In order to move forward, we must take steps.  Each step is a building block for the next step; each step leading you closer to the finish line (the completed goal).

Who orders our steps? God

“The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.” (Psalm 37:23)

But we must allow God to order our steps by submitting to Him.

Laying down our own desires and adopting His desires for our lives.

This requires a willful choice.

Taking steps requires forward movement.  When you move forward, you are growing and graduating from one level of growth to the next level.  However, if you are not taking steps – moving forward – then you are doing one of two things: (1) stagnating – remaining still and not going anywhere; or (2) digressing – moving backward.

Taking steps toward completion of a goal is like walking.  When you walk, you are constantly taking steps forward; constantly in motion.  The steps you take when you walk get you from point A to point B.  For example, if you want to get to the bus stop, which is three blocks from your house, then you must take the necessary steps to reach the bus stop.

Moreover, as we allow God to order our steps, we remain focused and single-minded, rather than veering off the course that he has set for us.  It is important that we remain focused and single-minded because if we veer from our God-given course by taking a wrong turn, we begin to take steps in the wrong direction.  Therefore, we are no longer moving forward, but backward.  We are no longer growing but digressing.  This is analogous to traveling.  Suppose your destination is Annapolis, Maryland.  You are traveling on the Beltway, and you see road signs – Route 50 – Washington, DC, and Route 50 – Annapolis, MD.  Instead of going in the direction of Annapolis, MD you go in the direction of Washington, DC.   Thus, you are off the course to Annapolis.  If you continue on Route 50 – Washington, DC you will never make it to Annapolis.  You must make a U-Turn and go in the right direction.

In the course of life, once we veer off the course God has set before us, there is a way to get on the right course.  That way is to ask God for directions back onto the straight and narrow road that leads us on the path of His perfect will.  The longer we continue to take steps backward, the longer it will take us to reach our final goal.  Therefore, it is crucial that we allow God to order our steps so that we can remain on the straight and narrow road.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14 – KJV)

“This is what I told them:  Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people.  Only do as I say, and all will be well.  But my people would not listen to me.  They kept on doing whatever they wanted, following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts.  They went backward instead of forward.” (Jeremiah 7:23-24- AMP)

“I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright:   no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done?  Every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.” (Jeremiah 8:6 – KJV)

This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.
(Jeremiah 6:16 – KJV)

Requirements for Staying on the Straight and Narrow Road are:

A.        Diligence

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6 – KJV)

“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied.” (Proverbs 13:4 NLV)

Prayer – “Pray without ceasing.” (I Thessalonians 5:17 -KJV)

Study the Word – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15 – KJV)

Fellowship With Other BelieversNot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.(Hebrews 10:25 – KJV

Praise and Worship – “I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1 – KJV)

Benefits of Staying on the Straight and Narrow Road are:

  1. You remain in God’s perfect will;
  2. You increase your level of intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ;
  3. You increase your knowledge and understanding of the Word;
  4. You are able to bless others; and
  5. You remain in a state of readiness to hear from God.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105 – KJV)

Foundation of Faith

April 1, 2013

Jesus said I am the truth, the way, and the life.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  (John 14:6)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word (Christ) and the Word was God himself.   He was present originally with God.  All things were made and came into existence through Him, and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.” (John 1:1-3)

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”  (Psalm 119:105)

God’s Word shows which path to take so you will stay on the straight and narrow road that leads to eternal life. The lamp upon your feet helps to lead and guide you where you are stepping so you can avoid the traps that the devil has set for you to walk in and destroy you.  These traps can be in the form of deception and distractions that keep you from fulfilling your God-given destiny; your God-given purpose. For example, you have a gift of creativity that is expressed through hair designing, but you attempt to draw and paint. However, your drawing and painting is not very good. You begin to receive negative comments and become frustrated and eventually give up.  This is the result of you not using the gift(s) God gave you.

Once you start using your God-given gift(s) – teaching, encouraging, writing, singing, dancing, creative designing, etc. then you will experience joy and fulfillment, and God will view you as being faithful.

“His master said to him, Well done, you upright (honorable, admirable) and faithful servant! You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little; I will put you in charge of much . . .”  (Matthew 25:23)

“He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much . . .”  (Luke 16:10)

God will also promote you by opening more opportunities for you to use your God-given gift(s) to help more people.

“A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.”  (Proverbs 18:16)
