Developing Christian Character

Developing Christian Character

Faith produces virtue > knowledge > self-control > steadfastness > godliness > brotherly affection > Christian Love

When you develop these qualities, they will keep you from being idle (unfruitful) unto the Lord Jesus Christ.

  Messiah  –     Anointed One

If you lack these qualities, you are spiritually blind and lack vision.

“My people perish for a lack of vision.”  (Proverbs 29:18)

There are four types of vision:

Myopic Vision – People with myopic vision are nearsighted that they live only for today. Their vision of the future is fuzzy. They can barely see beyond their noses.

Peripheral Vision – People with peripheral vision are blindsided by side issues. These visionaries are hampered in moving forward because they catch the threatening images of lurking problems in the corners of their eyes. They are fearful of shadowy difficulties and people lurking on the sidelines who will defeat their efforts. These folks are easily distracted.

Tunnel Vision – People with tunnel vision see only what is dead ahead of them and assume that their slender view of reality reflects the whole world. They don’t see other persons or other issues.

Panoramic Vision – People with panoramic vision see the “Big Picture”. They see beyond today. They see what is ahead of them and what is to their sides. They have a basic understanding of the key ingredients of a healthy organization and know the steps necessary to take to get them there.

Productive and Move Forward.

The Power of Your Mouth

January 4, 2015

In Proverbs 18:21 it says “death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it.”

In Matthew 12:37 it says For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.

The words you say have power to either produce positive or negative results in your life.  For example, if you say “I’m hanging in there”.  What you are really saying is that I’m hanging on to life by a thread, and could fall at any minute.  You are not secure and confident in your life.  Consequently, you may be experiencing emotional or financial  loss.

On the other hand, if you say “I’m doing great, and I’m blessed by God.”  Then you have a positive outlook on life and are experiencing a productive life in the form of blessings.  These blessings may be in the form of increased clients for your business; a job promotion; saving money on an appliance purchase; and helping others.  What you say will manifest. Remember God spoke things into existence.  In Genesis 1:3  “And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.”

When you confess words out of your mouth, you sew seeds that will yield a harvest.  Positive confessions yield positive actions and results.  Negative confessions yield negative actions and results.  Therefore, it is essential that you watch what wyou say because “you shall reap what you sew (say)”.

For verily I (Jesus) say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.  Therefore, I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.  (Mark 11:23,24)

What you say is your faith speaking.  Therfore, you will always have in your life what you believe for and say. Did you notice that the word “say” in some form is in Mark 11:23 three times, and the word “believe” is in that verse only once.  Many people are missing it in what they are saying.

Jesus said, “When you pray, believe you receive, and you shall have it.”  When you pray, you are saying words out of your mouth unto God.

If you are a student and want to make good grade in Math, you communicate (say) to God through prayer and ask Him to help you get a good grade in Math.  Now that you’ve said it, you must believe and expect to get a good math grade.  However, you are not going to get it if you don’t put forth some effort and study.

Another example – if you have a business and pray (say) and ask God to send you clients and referrals.  You must begin to believe that you have received them and begin to Expect them to come.  However, you must put forth some effort in marketing your business to others, such as distributing business cards, and brochures; engaging in Internet marketing (i.e. using Social Media such as Facebook and Twitter).

So you see just saying something without believing it, developing an attitude of expectation of receipt, and putting forth some action is not going to make what you say manifest.

Prayer Is Not an Option

May 7, 2013

In I Thessalonians 5:17 it says, “Pray without ceasing”.  Therefore, it is vital that we pray regularly and consistently.

Prayer is powerful, and when combined wit faith will yield supernatural results.  For example, suppose you have a stomachache, and you pray and ask God to heal your stomach; and 15 minutes later you notice your stomach has stopped hurting.  Because you asked God to heal you, you received your healing.  If you didn’t ask God, you would not have received your healing.

Many times people want God to do things in their life such as increase finances; cancel debts, and provide money to pay their mortgage, but they never ask God.  When you pray, you must make specific request to God.

Philippians 4:6 says Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

Matthew 6:5-8 says Also when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward in full already.  But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open.  And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”

Also when you pray to God (Jesus Christ) pray with sincerity and believe that you have received what you have prayed for. Begin thanking God. For example, if you have a business and you ask God to send clients and referrals, begin thanking Him for sending them.  Then you will see it manifest.  One time I prayed for this and within 10 minutes of praying the phone rang, and the person on the other end became a client.  God has continued to send clients and referrals, as I am faithful to ask Him.

Mark 11:23 says  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

I John 5:14-15 saysAnd this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.  And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.”

And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.”  (Matthew 21:22)

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  (James 5:16)

Fervent means zeal; passion.  Therefore, you must have a zeal to pray for you and for others.  If you have lost your zeal, pray and ask God to restore your zeal to pray.

“Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly].”  (I Thessalonians 5:17)

I challenge you to pray fervently and without ceasing, believing that you have received you petitions of God.
