A Pearl of Great Price

Pearls are found in oysters and are the result of the oyster’s way of protecting itself from foreign substance.  To understand how pearls are formed in oysters, lets evaluate an oyster’s basic anatomy.

Oysters are bivalves, which means that its shell is made of 2 valves.  The shell’s valves are held together by an elastic ligament that is located when the values come together.  This ligament keeps the valves open so the oyster can eat.

As the oyster grows in size, its shell must also grow. The mantle is an organ that produces the oyster’s shell, using minerals from the oyster’s food.  The material created by the mantel is called nacre.  The formation of a natural pearl begins when a foreign substance slips into the oyster between the mantel and the shell, which irritates the mantel.  The oyster’s natural reaction is to cover up the irritant to protect itself.  The oyster covers the irritant to protect itself by producing “nacre”,  a substance that is used to create the shell. The constant covering of the irritant forms a pearl.

Like the oyster, women experience irritants (trials and tribulations) in life.  Some women choose to bear the burdens that these trials and tribulations produce such as anxiety, depression, and emotional pain rather than casting them upon the Lord Jesus Christ, and allowing Him to carry them and heal them.

When you cast your burdens upon the Lord Jesus Christ, believing, trusting, and relying on Him, He will strengthen you and comfort you so that you can overcome your trials and tribulations.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” (Psalm 28:7)

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (I Peter 5:6-7)

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30)

If you learn to turn your cares over to the Lord, He will work on your situation while you are asleep.  The Amplified Bible says, “Casting the whole of your care, all of your anxieties, all of your concerns, all of your worries once and for all.”

Don’t cast your cares upon the Lord everyday and then take them back again.  Do it once and for all.  Then continue to trust (believe, depend, and rely) on God to work on your situation and heal you in the process.

Remember God’s Word says you are healed by Jesus’ stripes.  Keep declaring it and it will manifest.  Ephesians 3:20 says,  “Now to Him Who, by the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]”.

You have to exercise faith in the Word of God at all times, and praise God.  Did you know praising God encourages you and stays the enemy, the devil.  It is a defensive weapon against the plots and plans of the enemy.
