Make a DECISION to succeed in life.

Joshua said, as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods whom your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

You cannot continue to follow the world’s standards of living and God’s way.  The two are diametrically opposed.  You must DECIDE which standard you will follow.  Remember, there is a consequence for the decision you make.

Worldly Standard  = HELL (LAKE OF FIRE) God’s Righteous Standard = HEAVEN

Determination means to make a firm decision to do something.

DETERMINATION requires stability of the mind, emotions, and spirit.  Once you make a decision to follow Jesus Christ, you will not allow anyone or anything to cause you to turn back and follow the worldly standards of living.  You will follow Christ, regardless of the cost.

“No man having put his hand to the plow, and looks back to the things behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:2)

God desires for ALL of His children to move forward.  When you plough land, you are constantly taking steps forward; you are focused on forward movement (pressing forward to the next step); never looking back.

One step forward automatically leads to the next step if you are determined to go the next step. As you go from one step to the next step, you will constantly grow in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom of the Word of God.

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:9-14)

Discipline means self-control.

“Be still and rest in the Lord:  wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.” (Psalm 37:7)

God will deal with the evil one who seeks to distract, steal, kill, and destroy you.  He will execute judgment and righteousness on your behalf.  He will see to it that the evil one gets what he deserves – God said vengeance is mine saith the Lord.

It is essential to exercise self-control in our lives to maintain holiness (sanctification).  We can’t be guided by our emotions and natural minds.  We can’t get up and pray /study when we feel like it, or go to church when we feel like it.  We must die (not give in) to our human feelings and desires and accept and embrace God’s ways and desires, which are found in His Word.

We must dedicate our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God.  This sacrifice is ongoing throughout our lives.  We must follow God’s will and ways for our lives, rather than our own will and ways.  We must be guided by God and His Word.  Our submission and obedience to His Word will bring about positive change in our lives – spiritually, mentally, and physically.  God’s Word is our source for change; our tool to effect change in others; and our guide for empowerment and prosperity.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world (customs and attitudes), but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

“Do not let yourself be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

Your thoughts dictate your actions and your attitudes.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)

It is important to align your thoughts with God’s thoughts – found in His Word.  When I speak positively, passionately and in the present tense, then this activates the forces of my human spirit to lay hold of the spirit and power of God.

“The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor.” (Proverbs 12:24)

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:  And all these blessings shall come to thee and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)

Diligence means consistent.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing and being continually aware that your labour in the Lord is not futile.” (I Corinthians 15:58)

“But without faith it is impossible to please him:  for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

It is important to be consistent in prayer, reading, studying, and meditating on the Word of God on a regular basis – developing the PRSM Method.  When you develop the PRSM Method, you will undoubtedly grow in knowledge and understanding of the Word of God, and develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.  Your rewards will be immeasurable.

“Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.” (Psalm 119:4)
