Removing the Layers

God has a treasure in each and everyone of us, that is to be developed and shine brighter than the brightest star.  In order for us to discover the treasure God has endowed us with even before we were born, we must remove the layers of unforgiveness, pain, depression, shame, anxiety, pride, and greed that cover it. These layers keep us at low levels in the knowledge and wisdom of God.

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:9-10)

God desires us to please Him by bearing fruit and constantly growing and increasing in the knowledge of God with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight of the Word of God. He desires us to come up higher in Him.  He desires His children to grow and reach new heights – new levels of spiritual understanding so that we can impart this knowledge and understanding to others.

These layers of unforgiveness, pain, depression, shame, anxiety, pride, and greed burden us.  They are weights that hold us down.  God wants us to be free, not burdened down.  For if we are burdened down we will not be able to finish the race (our Christian walk with God).  We must come from under the covers of “layers” and rise.

Arise and walk, saith the Lord.

Luke 5:17 -20

In this chapter, Jesus healed a man with palsy.  Palsy is paralysis, characterized by tremoring of body parts such as legs, arms, etc.

The palsy and sins were the layers that the man was covered by.  Once Jesus forgave and healed him, the layers were permanently removed.  He was able to not only arise physically, but spiritually.  His true treasure began to shine because it was no longer clogged by disease and sin.  The paralytic man began to carry the stretcher upon which he lay as opposed to the stretcher carrying him.  The stretcher represents all those things that burdened the paralytic man (sickness, disease, and sins).

These layers must be permanently removed before we can fulfill our God-given purposes.

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and  some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

So God wants us to minister to and edify the Body of Christ through our God-given purposes.  God may have called you to be a teacher or pastor or a prophet, but if you are burdened own with layers weighing you down, then your ability to minister and edify the Body of Christ is greatly diminished.

Remember God said to edify the Body of Christ, and he called his children to be apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists for the perfecting (maturing) of the saints (brothers and sisters in the Lord).  How are we going to achieve God’s goals of perfecting and edifying if we are weighted down with layers of unforgiveness, pain, depression, shame, anxiety, pride, that inhibit our growth and maturity in the Lord, and our ability to edify (lifting up and encouraging) others.

We’ve got to come up out of the rut we are in and reach for and expect the best God has for us.  We’ve got to come up higher and experience the best God has for us.  God wants us to be free, not burdened down. For if we are burdened down we will not be able to finish the race (Christian walk with God) set before us.  We must come from under the covers of layers and rise. Arise and walk”, saith the Lord.

The layers must be permanently removed before we can fulfill our God-given purposes.

These layers are removed by releasing full control of our lives to Jesus Christ, for He is the truth, the way, and the life.  We must follow his ways of doing things, not our ways – founded upon our mind, feelings, and emotions.  In the Isaiah 55:8-9 it says that God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. We must set out to do what God has called us to do.  We must continue to RISE and REACH NEW HEIGHTS – new levels of spiritual understanding, and as we do we discover His ways of doing things, and conform our thoughts and ways of doing things through the R-S-M Method (Reading, Studying, and Meditating on the Word of God).

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth . (II Timothy 2:15 )

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:  for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

God desires and requires us to read, study, and meditate on the Word of God, and as we do, God promotes us, lifts us, shapes us, and molds us into a divine treasure.  When the layers that beset us, and keep us from God’s best are removed, then our divine treasure glows and shines like an endless stream of light.
